The Semovente da 75/32 combined the chassis of the M15/42 tank with a gun of 75 mm caliber. Only a few dozen were built and almost all of them fought under German command. The 1:100 model measures around five centimeters.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Italians built their self-propelled guns on what they had to hand, and with each further version they reached for a longer weapon. The version with a 75 mm gun thirty-two calibers long came about as a complement alongside a related variant with an even longer barrel. The difference between them is barely noticeable to the eye and is recognized mainly by collectors who compare the overhang of the barrel beyond the front of the hull.
Production was getting under way at the moment when Italy was leaving the war, and the factory halls were already controlled by German administration. Only dozens of finished vehicles therefore came about, and the overwhelming majority of them headed for formations fighting on the Apennine peninsula. In field conditions the self-propelled gun kept a good reputation for its low silhouette and for the solid effect of its projectile against fortified positions.
A 1:100 build fits onto the area of a postage stamp and still keeps the shapes of the sloping fronts of the fighting compartment readable. A small scale forgives small inaccuracies, but the result is decided by the cleanness of the edges and the precise seating of the barrel in line. It pays to set the finished piece on a darker base, as the contrast of the sand camouflage then stands out.
