The Alfa Romeo C43 is the single-seater with which the team raced the 2023 season. It was built and run by the Swiss Sauber stable, while the Alfa Romeo brand gave it its name and its colors. The powerplant came from Ferrari: a force-fed six-cylinder in a V completed by an electric part, as the Formula 1 rules of the time prescribed. Behind the wheel sat Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, the first Chinese driver in the field of the world championship at all. Race number 24 belonged to him, and this model carries it too, completed with the markings of the Australian Grand Prix of the 2023 season.
The model is a finished collector's item in 1:64; it is neither assembled nor painted. A Formula 1 single-seater comes out of it in this scale at just under nine centimeters, so it fits in the palm of a hand and into an ordinary collector's display case.
The model looks best in a display case or on a shelf in a row with further single-seaters, where it comes out how the shape of the cars changes from year to year. You take dust off it with a soft brush, and a dry microfiber cloth is enough for fingerprints. Leave solvents and window cleaning products aside; both the printing and the paint could suffer. Sun on a windowsill does the colors no good.
