The Jaguar C-X75 in blue paint. An unrealized hybrid project of the British marque in the form of a finished collector's casting, 1:64 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Jaguar showed the C-X75 concept at the Paris motor show in 2010, when the marque was celebrating seventy-five years of existence. Hence the number in the designation. The original concept was an electric car with four motors at the wheels and with a pair of micro turbines, which did not serve for propulsion but as a generator charging the battery. It was a technically bold solution of a kind that never reached series production.
For the planned small-series version Jaguar joined forces with the engineers of Williams Advanced Engineering. The turbines were replaced by a four-cylinder of 1.6 liters, force-fed by a turbocharger and a supercharger at once and completed by electric motors; the total output came close to eight hundred fifty horses. Five running prototypes were built, but series production fell through in 2012 because of the economic situation.
The car reached the public even so, as the villain's car in an espionage film of 2015, where it went through a night chase in the streets of Rome. It is thanks to that chase that more people remember it than any other unrealized project of the marque.
A blue form in 1:64. The body is of metal, the interior of plastic, the wheels turn on rubber tires and the length comes out at around seven centimeters. The collector's item is supplied finished and is not intended for any further modification.
Shelves tend to be full of cars that really were built. Unrealized projects are rarer on them, and that is exactly what makes the C-X75 a piece a visitor has something to listen to about.
