Hexagon head screws with a washer 0.5 mm across, the finest size in the line, for 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The hexagon head is the most widespread shape of bolt head in engineering, and the eye recognizes it even without being aware of it. A round bump reads as a rivet, while a hexagon says at once that it can be undone with a wrench. In a small scale that is a difference worth the extra work.
Half a millimeter is the bottom end of the range and matches 1:72 scale. A smaller format means the head is meant to come out on the model as a barely perceptible dot that nonetheless casts a shadow. The washer under the head strengthens that effect: it widens the base, so the bump does not disappear even under two coats of paint and a clear finish.
On a 1:72 military or aircraft model, hexagons turn up on engine covers, on inspection panels, at the attachment points of landing gear, on exhaust mountings and on the frames of bodies. You will also reach for them where you want to repair a spot that lost its shape when it came out of the mold.
Work over a tray or across a light-colored cloth, or the part will vanish on you. A moistened brush tip works well, as it lifts and carries the head better than tweezers. Dose the glue in a minute amount, because a drop larger than the part itself will flood the relief and the whole job will be wasted. Choose a thinned paint and apply it thinly. Store the unused parts in a closed box, because on a workbench they are lost for good.
