IONIC Rust is a paint from the IONIC range by AMMO of Mig Jimenez and its name places it among rust tones. It is used wherever a surface should look neglected and corroded: on old tools and drums in a scene, along the edges of chipped paint, on the streaks running down surfaces below rivets and hinges, and on the gear of figures that has seen long service. How dark the tone is the name does not tell you, so compare it against the color swatch.
Stir the paint before use until the consistency is even, because in modeling paints the pigment settles to the bottom. The thinner suited to this range and the thinning ratio are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging and those instructions take precedence; a thinner from another range can curdle the paint. Work in thin coats with a pause for drying, as a heavy coat floods the engraving and the fine surface of the part is lost. Rust looks more convincing applied unevenly: dab it on in patches with a sponge or the tip of a brush and let the base show through in places. Rinse brushes and the airbrush right after work, while the paint is still wet.
For modelers who weather vehicles and scenery, and for figure painters who build their palette one shade at a time. The IONIC range covers single shades as well as themed sets.
The package contains a single shade of paint. A model, a figure, brushes, an airbrush and thinner are not included, unless stated otherwise.
