About product

Douglas A-4N Skyhawk 1:48 (Hobby 2000)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the American light attack fighter Douglas A-4N Skyhawk in Israeli service in 1:48 scale from the Hobby 2000 brand. The edition builds on the proven Hasegawa injection mold and adds quality Cartograf decals and a mask set. In the Israeli Air Force the type carried the nickname Ayit (eagle).

The real subject

The A-4 Skyhawk was a small, agile and tough attack aircraft. Israel took the A-4N version into service from the 1970s as a light ground-attack machine for strikes on ground targets and for direct support. The Skyhawks played a notable part during the fighting in the Middle East, among other things in the Yom Kippur War of 1973. The type excelled by its simplicity and its ability to carry a large bomb load on a small airframe.

Building and painting tips

Finish and paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage. Mask the canopy glazing with the enclosed mask. Spray large areas with an airbrush and apply gloss varnish under the decals, so that the Israeli markings settle smoothly. Fit the underwing bombs, tanks and rocket pods only at the end of the build.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of the Israeli Air Force
  • Lovers of light attack machines
  • Modelers with experience of masks and underwing stores
  • Anyone interested in 1:48 scale for the display case

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
