This accessory helps to work the joints that are to be distinct at first glance. It is not intended for building a model as such but for finishing and modifying it. The value 1.5 millimeters given in the name represents the upper end of the ordinary millimeter range the brand keeps across its lines.
Strong heads suit load-bearing brackets, the attachment of dozer blades and mine-clearing equipment, the feet of crane jibs and the frames of heavy trailers. They also find use on construction and agricultural machinery, where the fasteners tend to be massive and uncovered. In larger scales this size is then usable even for ordinary bolts on bodywork.
A larger head also has a larger seating area, so level the surface, otherwise the bolt will stand crooked. If you are fitting a longer row, it helps to make a simple paper template with holes at the same spacing. Once the joint has cured, check from the side whether any head stands out more than the others. A few strokes of a sanding stick will level a small unevenness. With massive heads an accent in a dark shade works well too, because the shadow cast around the bolt supports the impression of mass and depth.
