A kit of a sailing ship from the Grand Ship Collection collector's series. The hull, the rigging and the superstructures come together from colored plastic parts; neither glue nor paints are needed.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item of the series captures a vessel with a classic wooden hull and with sails set on its masts. What gives the finished build its character is above all the ornamented bow and the contrast between the dark sides and the lighter sail area.
The sprues are molded in several colors at once, and the sails come as separate thin-walled parts with the texture of the cloth marked on them. It goes together by clicking, which means the whole build can be finished with nippers alone and without a single drop of glue. The instructions lead the builder from the hull to the deck and only at the end to the rigging.
The most delicate parts are the masts and the thin rigging, if the package holds any. Nip them off carefully and never bend them until they sit in their opening: thin plastic snaps sooner than it bends. Fit the sails only once any coat of paint has dried, because paint likes to soak into their edges and the joint will then not seat.
The small format and the easy assembly make the series a fitting gift as well as an entry model for someone starting out with plastic kits. A collector in turn will appreciate that the individual vessels make up a visually matched group, and that displayed side by side it is clear how the ships differ in size and in the shape of the bow. The base allows the model to be stood up with no further accessories. We recommend clearing the sprues away only once the whole build is finished, because the small accessories tend to be spread across several sprues and are easily missed when tidying the table.
