The Valuable Pod is one of the smaller items of the range. The usual scope of such an item matches a small box with a few sprues; the build is short and even a beginner can manage it in a single evening.
The English word pod denotes an enclosed module or cabin, that is a body without limbs and without an extensive articulated frame. The work therefore does not center on setting joints but above all on lining the shells up cleanly and on the resulting shape being symmetrical and standing off nowhere.
The parts are injection-molded from polystyrene and are separated from the sprue with nippers. The remainder of the gate is leveled with a knife; on rounded surfaces it is more sensible to reach for a sanding sponge than for a file, because a flat file would leave a flat spot on a curve which every glossy coat would then give away.
What shows most with parts shaped this way is the seam between the two halves of the shell. Anyone who wants a model without a visible join should glue the halves together, fill the joint, sand it once it has cured and only then spray the primer. Without that step the line stays noticeable even under the paint, because light breaks on it differently from the surrounding surface.
The name contains no scale number. The manufacturer generally does not put it in the names of this group of goods, so the size has to be judged from the series the piece belongs to and from the dimensions of the models it suits. Anyone who collects one particular size class should therefore check the size beforehand.
