Beargguy Ohana And Aloharo Set

Two models in one package

The word Set at the end of the name is no ornament: with this brand it signals that the box holds more than one buildable piece. Here it is two names separated by a conjunction, that is two standalone models, each with its own sprues and its own procedure in the instructions.

The stylized bear form that the whole group of goods shares brings a specific type of parts with it. The body and the head are large rounded shells without engraving, while the limbs are small and short by contrast. On the large smooth areas every trace of a gate or of a parting line is therefore visible from a distance, and cleaning up is worth more time than on intricate machines.

Clicking is all it takes to join them. The color division is dealt with by the shades of the plastic, and the small details of the face by stickers; anyone who does not want to use them can paint the eyes and the other details with a brush, because these are large continuous areas without fine texture.

A twin pack also has a practical advantage for beginners. The first model serves to get the hang of the procedure; with the second the builder already knows where it pays to press and where not, and can try a more demanding finish on it, such as sanding the seams and a matte clear coat that suppresses the plastic sheen.

Here too the name holds no scale. The scope matches the middle of the range, which with a pair of models means a rather smaller format for each of them. For a display case that is an advantage: the two pieces side by side take up roughly as much room as a single mid-sized model, while reading as a coherent scene.
