The set completely replaces the cockpit of the MiG-21MF Fishbed fighter in its late version in 1:32 scale — it brings a faithful cockpit tub, instrument panel, side panels, ejection seat and further small details that go far beyond the plastic from the box. The set is made by Aires, a Czech specialist in resin detail sets.

The real subject

The MiG-21MF was one of the most widespread versions of the Soviet MiG-21 fighter, with a powerful engine and a built-in cannon. The late configuration differs in the arrangement of the cockpit and the instruments, and the shape of the set matches that.

Fitting and painting

• The set is shaped for the MiG-21MF kit in 1:32 scale from Trumpeter; test the fit dry before you glue anything.
• Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water so that no mold release agent stays on the surface.
• Cut the casting blocks off with a sharp scalpel or a saw; with resin replacements minor adjustment of the fuselage tub is usually needed.
• Glue with cyanoacrylate glue; cement for plastic does not hold on resin.
• Lay down a primer; the interior is commonly painted in the characteristic shade of Soviet cockpits, and a wash and dry-brushing will bring out the detail. Finish the cockpit before you close up the fuselage.

Who the set is for

The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package. When sanding resin, wear a respirator and ventilate the room.
