1:48 Jaguar GR.1/GR.1a position lights for airfix

Jaguar GR.1/GR.1a position lights (1:48, Quickboost)

A small detail accessory in resin, not a model of the aircraft. The set replaces the position (navigation) lights of the British SEPECAT Jaguar GR.1/GR.1a attack fighter in 1:48 scale and is shaped for the kit from Airfix. The precisely cast lights have a more faithful shape than the plastic out of the box and look more realistic once painted or lit through. The set is made by Quickboost, the accessory brand of Aires.

The real subject

The SEPECAT Jaguar was a British-French single-seat attack aircraft intended for strikes on ground targets; the British GR.1 and GR.1a versions served with the Royal Air Force. The position lights on the wings and the fuselage are among the small things that add credibility to a finished model.

Fitting and painting

• Check that your base Jaguar GR.1/GR.1a kit is the one from Airfix in 1:48 scale, as the set is shaped for it.
• Wash the parts with lukewarm water and dish soap so that no mold release agent is left on the surface.
• Cut the small lights carefully off the casting block with a sharp scalpel; do not snap them off.
• Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue; cement for plastic will not hold on resin.
• Position lights are painted in clear shades (red, green, clear) over a silver or light undercoat, which raises their gloss.

Who the set is for

• For modelers building the Jaguar GR.1/GR.1a from Airfix in 1:48 scale.
• For those who want faithful position lights instead of the plastic out of the box.
• Working with small resin parts calls for care.

The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package. When sanding resin, use a respirator and ventilate.
