A whole millimeter from the bulletproof family. The value where fine detailing ends and the bold joints visible from a distance, even in a finished display case, begin.

The round figure is a turning point in this grading. Below it the parts behave as surface structure, above it as separate components. A millimeter head is visible from a normal viewing distance, which means that nobody will forgive mistakes in the layout or the number any more. On the other hand, well-done work at this size carries the whole impression of the surface.
On models two different views of the same joint are often confused. The head is the end by which the part is inserted; the nut is the counterpart on the opposite side which closes the joint. Both look similar from the outside, but they differ in their surroundings. Under a head there tends to be a washer and the surface around it is machined, whereas a nut often sits on a rougher, unmachined surface and tends to be slightly taller, because the thread protrudes from it. Once you are aware of this difference, you can also tell which side the panel was assembled from.
For the build a pleasant conclusion follows: on one machine you can legitimately use several different shapes and not look inconsistent. Variety here is a mark of accuracy, not of untidiness. It helps to keep a simple note on a part-built machine of where each end of a joint will go, so that the layout does not run off halfway through the work.
