Hardware with a hex 1.5 mm in size for completing the surface of a model. A middle grade of the upper half of the scale, suitable even for a display case over long years.
Responsibility details are not available.
A model built with care stands in a display case far longer than its building took. Hardware 1.5 mm in size will be visible on it that whole time, and that is why it pays to think ahead about the aging of the joint, not just about how it looks a week after completion.
Cyanoacrylate glue becomes brittle in time and under swings of temperature it works differently from the plastic beneath it. A joint that was as hard as glass at the start can loosen of its own accord after several years, without anyone touching the model. Slower glues with a more flexible film take that movement better.
Behind glass dust gathers which cannot simply be wiped from around small hardware. Wiping with a cloth is precisely the handling during which hardware tends to be torn off, so it is better to use a stream of air or a soft brush led always in one direction.
A tilted head is the first sign that the glue beneath it is letting go. Stepping in at that moment is easy, because it is enough to take the piece out and seat it again. When you wait for it to fall off by itself, it usually gets lost and a replacement in the same dimension has to be found. A check twice a year takes a few minutes and saves hunting for the one single piece that ends up missing most of all on the model. It is worth going over the undersides of the parts during it as well, where nobody normally looks.
