Nineteen among the extreme dimensions

The extreme grades of the scale have a special standing. They are ordered less often, but when a modeler needs them, replacing them with the neighboring dimension is practically impossible, because it is precisely with the large heads that a difference of a tenth of a millimeter is noticeable at first glance. So if you are building from accurate documentation and have measured that you need nineteen tenths, there is no point counting on the eighteen to save the day.

A reserve pays off

With large heads losses count differently than with miniature ones. A spoiled piece is easier to find on the floor, but damage to it is glaring and retouching is usually not possible. Experienced builders therefore approach such dimensions with a reserve and do not count exactly to the piece. Since the name does not tell you how many parts to reckon with, and the number is not stated here, the safer option is to order somewhat before you run out rather than rely on topping up in the middle of work in progress.

Tips for a clean result

• Mark the point with a needle before drilling; the bit then will not slip.
• Grip the head by its side, not by its crown, so that no print is left on the dome.
• Once dry, inspect the rim against the light; a gap is revealed from the side.
• Apply the paint thinly; a thick coat fills the rounded shape in.

The part is intended for building scale models, not for use on a real machine. The package does not contain the other components of the build. Reckon also with interest in the extreme values of the scale being irregular, so if you need the dimension right now, it is better not to put it off.
