A miniature of the McLaren F1 road supercar of 1993 in the shade named Yquem, done in 1:64 scale. A finished collector's piece supplied assembled.
Responsibility details are not available.
When the McLaren F1 came out of Gordon Murray's workshop in 1993, there was nothing to compare it with. A carbon monocoque, a BMW engine with twelve cylinders and a displacement of over six liters, an output of around six hundred thirty horsepower and a weight under one and a half tons. The designer chose a central driving position with two seats to the sides and behind, lined the engine bay with gold foil to carry the heat away and gave up on any aerodynamic help in the form of a large wing. In 1998 it became the fastest production car in the world and it held that title for years.
Yquem refers to the famous Sauternes wine and it is one of the colors the first owners had mixed to order. Something over one hundred cars were built, so every individual shade has its story among those who know and is easily recognized.
The real car measures over four and a quarter meters, so the model works out at roughly seven centimeters. What is interesting is everything that still fits into that: glazing through which the arrangement of the three seats can be seen, shaped wheels and the exact line of the roof intake with its air scoop. It is precisely these things that separate a collector's piece from a toy, because here size forgives nobody anything.
The piece is supplied complete and painted, ready to go straight into a display case. Nothing is glued, sanded or finished off, which is the key difference in this category compared with plastic kits.
