A set of wheel bay plugs for the Macchi MC.202 Folgore model in 1:72 scale, prepared for the Italeri kit. It lets you build the aircraft with the landing gear retracted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Macchi MC.202 Folgore was an Italian single-seat fighter of the Second World War. Compared with the older Italian fighters with radial engines it received a liquid-cooled inverted V12 and a slimmer nose, which showed clearly in both speed and rate of climb. It was deployed above all over the Mediterranean and in North Africa.
On a model built with the landing gear retracted the wheel bays remain as empty openings in the lower surface of the wing. This set closes them: the plugs fill the openings and complete the shape of the wing so that the model matches the aircraft in flight. The parts are prepared for the Macchi MC.202 Folgore kit in 1:72 scale from Italeri.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand off what is left. Offer each plug up dry first and check how it sits; a small gap is easier to correct by sanding the mating surface than by filling the seam. Sand the transition between the plug and the wing surface flush and restore any damaged panel lines. Wash and degrease the surface before painting so that the paint holds. The manufacturer's instructions give the exact gluing procedure.
The set suits modelers who want to build the Folgore in a flying attitude on a stand or hang it from the ceiling, or to save themselves the work of detailing the bays. Even a less experienced builder will manage it, because it is a handful of parts and the build does not have to change in any fundamental way because of them.
The kit itself, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
