Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Azur (Azur-FRROM), centered on the export version of the American Martin bomber used in Dutch colonial service. It is a newer, short-run mold; the package holds clear parts for the extensive cockpit glazing and a decal sheet with several schemes of machines of the Dutch colonial army air arm in the Netherlands East Indies, including machines with period nose art.
The Martin Type 166 was the export development of the American Martin B-10 bomber, one of the first all-metal monoplane bombers with enclosed cockpits and retractable landing gear. The Dutch version received a long continuous greenhouse canopy linking the crew positions, and Wright R-1820 radial engines. The machines served in the Netherlands East Indies and were committed to the defensive fighting against the Japanese advance at the turn of 1941 and 1942.
Short-run molds call for more work than mainstream plastic: expect to clean flash off the parts, to tidy up the mold edges where needed and to dry-fit the parts before gluing. Glue with thin modeling cement for plastic. The extensive cockpit glazing comes into its own with masks and a gloss varnish under the decals; a final shading of the panels and light weathering will bring out the broken surface. Apply a primer before painting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
