Supermarine Spitfire TR.9 1:48: BASIC kabuki masks (New Ware) are shaped masking templates for a clean spray of the transparencies of the two-seat Spitfire.

This is a set of masking templates of the New Ware brand for a model of the two-seat Spitfire TR.9 trainer in 1:48 scale. The masks are cut from thin Japanese kabuki tape and they follow the framing of both canopies of the tandem cockpit and of the other transparent parts exactly. The BASIC line covers the outer masking of the transparencies and usually the wheels and other small areas as well.
Kabuki tape holds its shape, adapts well to rounded surfaces and leaves no adhesive behind once it is taken off. The exact shaping saves time compared with cutting by hand and ensures sharp edges to the spray. The two-cockpit TR.9 has extra transparencies, so preshaped masks speed the work up markedly.
Degrease the transparent parts before sticking them on, transfer the masks one at a time and press them carefully against the edges of the frames. Spray the paint in thin coats, so that it does not run under the edge. Take the mask off soon after it has dried, at a slight angle.
The masks are an accessory, not a model. Paints and a kit are not included in the package.
