1:32 Tempest - Armament set for Port Side Wing / for Special Hobby kit

The real subject

The Hawker Tempest is a British fighter aircraft from the end of the Second World War. It came out of the Typhoon, from which it differed mainly in a new wing: thinner and with a markedly rounded planform. It is precisely the thin wing that is defining for the Tempest, because the armament and the landing gear had to be built into it without the profile bulging needlessly. The armament was made up of four 20 mm cannon, two in each wing, and their barrels protruding ahead of the leading edge are among the most conspicuous features of the whole machine.

What the set offers

The set deals with the armament of the left wing, that is the side that is on the left when seen in the direction of flight. It is a separate accessory for a model in 1:32 scale, where thanks to the size every detail of the gun bay is clearly visible. The name ties the set to the Special Hobby kit, so the parts are shaped to its dimensions. The maker's instructions give the exact extent of the set and the procedure for seating it.

• The armament of the left wing in 1:32 scale
• The real subject: the Hawker Tempest fighter aircraft
• According to the name meant for the Special Hobby kit
• An accessory for a kit; the model is not included

Building and painting tips

The parts are not of polystyrene; join them with super glue. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little distance from the part and sand the rest. Wash and degrease them before painting, then apply a primer. With the barrels, take care that both point parallel and protrude the same distance; asymmetry is visible on a finished model at first glance. It is practical to paint and shade the gun bay before you close it.

Who it is for

For builders of large models of British fighters who want the armament to be more worked out than the basic kit allows. A kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
