An injection-molded plastic kit of the light Swedish SAAB 91 Safir aircraft in 1:72 scale from Kovozavody Prostejov (KP). This boxing concentrates on the civilian use of the type: the Safir flew with flying clubs, flight schools and private owners and also appeared in the colors of several European airlines. It is a short-run plastic kit with a decal sheet; the exact contents of the box are given in the manufacturer's catalog.
The Safir is a single-engine all-metal low-wing aircraft, four-seat in its later versions, which appeared in the mid-1940s as an all-round trainer and touring machine. Besides the air forces it found its way into the civilian world as well: it served with flight schools and flying clubs and as a trainer and liaison machine with large airlines. It was built in Sweden and under license in the Netherlands too, from where a number of machines went straight to civilian users. Power came from four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines, depending on the particular version.
Clean the parts up before gluing and always try them dry, because short-run molds tend to have no locating pins and call for patience. Use liquid cement for plastic and fill the joints where need be. Civilian schemes tend to be colorful and glossy, so a good base, airbrushing and a gloss coat under the decals pay off; choose the final coat according to the subject.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
