Seafang F.Mk.32 1:72 from AZ model, an injection-molded short-run kit of the British Supermarine Seafang carrier fighter, the postwar continuation of the Spitfire line with a contra-rotating propeller.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Supermarine Seafang F.Mk.32 carrier fighter in 1:72 scale from the Czech firm AZ model. It is a short-run kit whose parts call for somewhat more careful clean-up and fitting than those of the large series makers. The Seafang was the carrier version of the Spiteful fighter, which followed on from the legendary Spitfire.
The Supermarine Seafang was the closing branch of development of the Spitfire family. It appeared as the carrier version of the land-based Spiteful fighter, which took over the powerful Rolls-Royce Griffon engine and a new laminar-flow wing. The F.Mk.32 version was driven by a contra-rotating coaxial propeller, which did away with the strong torque on takeoff. The aircraft was built in small numbers in the postwar period, when the arrival of jets quickly made piston-engined carrier fighters obsolete, so the Seafang stayed on the margins of service.
With a short-run kit, separate the parts carefully with a sharp knife, clean the flash off and dry-fit everything before gluing, because the sprues usually have no locating pins. Glue with thin liquid cement for plastic. Take care to seat the coaxial contra-rotating propeller correctly. Lay down a primer before painting, airbrush the camouflage and the naval markings in thin coats and mask the glazing carefully.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
