1:144 Boeing 737 800 MALÉV decal sheet

The real subject

The Boeing 737-800 is a narrow-body airliner with turbofan engines under the wing, one of the most widespread machines of its class. Malev was a Hungarian airline based in Budapest; it ceased operations in 2012, so its machines can today be recalled mainly by a model.

What the sheet contains

The sheet carries the markings and the lettering for a model of the Boeing 737-800 in 1:144 scale in the colors of the Malev company. The exact extent, that is which particular machines and which additional lettering are printed on the sheet, is stated on the enclosed sheet from the maker. The decals round out a model supplied separately; count on keeping to the coloring of the fuselage and the tail surfaces as a separate job with a brush or an airbrush, depending on the base.

How the decals are applied

These are classic waterslide decals. Cut the motif out together with the border of the backing paper, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until the film starts to move on the paper. Go over the base with a gloss varnish beforehand, so that no silvering bubbles form under the decal. Slide the decal into place, soak the surplus water up with a soft paper and fine-tune the position with a brush. A decal softener will help settle the film into the panel lines and the transitions; on large areas apply it part by part. Once it has dried, go over the model with a matte or a semi-gloss varnish according to the real subject.

Who it is for

For modelers of airliners in 1:144 scale who build the machines of European carriers. A model, paints, varnish and a softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
