A plastic kit of the Japanese destroyer Ayanami as she was in 1942, in 1:700 scale, including the lower hull parts.
Responsibility details are not available.
Ayanami was a destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The kit captures her form from 1942, the period when Japanese destroyers were used above all to escort formations and to fight night actions in the southern Pacific. The year in the name is tied to a particular state of equipment and armament, which on these ships changed several times during the war.
The lower hull parts are included, so the model can be built not only as a waterline version but also with the full hull on a base. 1:700 is the most widespread scale for warships, and a destroyer in it stays a compact item for a cabinet while the layout of the superstructure and the placement of the armament can still be made out.
Separate the small parts of the superstructure and the armament with a sharp knife and sand away traces of manufacture with fine abrasive paper so that the mating surfaces stay flat. The hull paints well in two stages, the underwater and the above-water part separately. Railings, nets and other fine elements are not an ordinary part of the plastic parts on ships of this size and are dealt with by separate accessories.
The kit suits collectors of warships who build a coherent fleet in one scale, and modelers with experience of small parts. You will make the work easier with tweezers, a magnifier and good light.
Paints, glue and a base are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
