A set of four replacement barrels for the AK-130 naval gun of 130 mm caliber in 1:700 scale, intended for models of ships of the Sovremenny, Slava and Kirov classes.
Responsibility details are not available.
The AK-130 is a Soviet naval gun of 130 mm caliber that became the main artillery armament of large surface ships. The mounting is twin, so one position always carries two barrels side by side. The figure 130 mm/70 in the name joins two different things: the caliber, that is the bore diameter, and the length of the barrel expressed in calibers. The barrel is therefore roughly seventy times longer than the bore diameter. The English notation 5.1in is only a conversion of the same caliber into inches; it is not a second weapon.
The package holds four barrels in 1:700 scale, that is the number for two twin mountings. Compared with the parts from the kit they have a slimmer shape and a regular round cross-section along their whole length, which even in such a small scale shows on the finished model. The set is aimed at models of Sovremenny class destroyers and Slava and Kirov class cruisers.
Cut off the original barrels with a sharp blade right at the face of the mounting and level the area left behind. Then carefully drill a hole of the matching diameter in the mounting and first fit the barrels dry, before you reach for the glue. Only that way will you make sure both point in the same direction and have the same elevation. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts. Wash and degrease the surfaces before painting; small parts are easier to spray before they go into the mounting.
A set of barrels is supplied. The ship kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
