This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian maker UM (Unimodels) captures the German self-propelled gun that came about by mounting a 15 cm heavy infantry gun on the chassis of the Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer. The set usually holds photo-etched parts and plastic tracks built up by the link-and-length method.
The vehicle combined the proven Hetzer chassis, derived from the Czechoslovak LT vz. 38, with the 15 cm sIG 33 heavy infantry gun in an open superstructure. It served as mobile fire support for the infantry at the end of the Second World War, when there was a pressing need for mobile heavy artillery on an available chassis.
Finish the running gear and the fighting compartment with the gun before you close the hull; the open superstructure invites detailed work on the interior. Glue the photo-etch with cyanoacrylate glue and the plastic with liquid modeling cement. We recommend an airbrush over a primer and weathering with washes and pigments on the chassis and the superstructure.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
