A detail set of the 2A42 automatic cannon with a metal (turned) barrel for the Ka-52 attack helicopter in 1:72 scale. It is an accessory for advanced modelers, not a model on its own: it combines fine resin and 3D printed parts of the cannon with a solid metal barrel that replaces the fragile and less accurate plastic part from the kit. The metal barrel holds its shape and stands up to careful handling.
The 2A42 is a Russian 30 mm automatic cannon which on the Ka-52 forms the fixed onboard armament mounted on the right side of the nose. It serves against lightly armored ground targets, vehicles and personnel. It is exactly the slender barrel of the cannon that gains the most in a small scale from swapping plastic for metal.
Wash any print resin residue off the resin parts and separate them from the print supports. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue): it holds both the resin and the metal barrel. The metal barrel can be brought out with a dark metal shade. Protect your airways while sanding.
This is an accessory set, not a model on its own. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
