A plastic kit of the Chinese Jiao Long deep-sea research submersible in 1:72 scale from the Trumpeter brand. The model is conceived as an easily assembled snap-fit kit with pre-colored parts, so a finished model gains a faithful look even without extensive painting. It is not a conventional military submarine but a modern scientific research machine.
The Jiao Long is the first Chinese manned deep-sea vessel of domestic design to reach a depth exceeding 7000 meters on its dives. It serves for research of the sea floor, for taking samples and for mapping resources, and it carries a pilot together with scientists. Thanks to its reach it ranks among the most capable research vessels of its kind.
The parts fit together without any need for glue, though a drop of super glue will strengthen the joints. The pre-colored surfaces can be fine-tuned - pick out the viewports, the manipulator arms and the detail with a brush, or weather them gently. You stand the model on the stand supplied and display it as a model of a vessel, not of an aircraft or a vehicle.
The model is a snap-fit kit with pre-colored parts; glue and paints are not necessary for basic assembly. Accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
