Resin exhausts for the American piston-engine A-1 Skyraider attack aircraft in 1:72 scale from the Quickboost brand. This is not an airplane model but an accurate replacement part for more experienced modelers that takes the place of the plastic exhausts from a kit with more faithful castings. The advantage of resin is a finer shape and the option of drilled or deepened exhaust outlets without laborious cleaning up.
The A-1 Skyraider was powered by a large radial engine whose exhausts are among the conspicuous features around the engine cowling. In plastic they tend to be molded solid and coarse; the resin replacement reads as finer and takes paint and weathering effects better. The part is meant to refine an existing Skyraider model in the same scale.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove any mold release residue from the mold. Cut the casting blocks off with a sharp knife or a fine saw and clean up the surfaces; protect your airways when sanding resin. Bond them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) - ordinary plastic cement does not hold on resin. We recommend repainting the exhausts in burnt metal and rust shades and picking them out with sooty deposits.
It is supplied as an unpainted resin accessory for completing a model. Glue, paints and the model itself are not included in the package.
