A photo-etched set of additional parts for a model of the Douglas A-4E Skyhawk carrier-borne attack aircraft in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was an American carrier-borne attack aircraft that made its name above all by how small and light it was for its role. The delta wing had such a short span that it did not have to fold for life aboard ship, and that simplified both the structure and maintenance. The machine served for decades with the Navy and with other users. The A-4E version received a more powerful engine and two added underwing pylons, so it carried more than the earlier batches.
Photo-etched parts are made from a thin metal fret and therefore have a thickness that cannot be reached with injection-molded plastic. They come into their own where an edge should be sharp and the material almost invisible: the instrument panel, the seat belts, meshes, flaps and small cockpit fittings. In 1:72 scale it is precisely the thickness of the part that makes the difference between a toy and a model.
The aircraft model, paints and glue are not part of this set, unless stated otherwise.
