A kit of the two-seat Grumman F-14A Tomcat carrier fighter in 1:72 scale. According to the name it is an edition tied to the Ace Combat game series and to the fictional Wardog unit, so the markings come from the game world and not from real service. The tooling was prepared by the Japanese company Hasegawa.
The Tomcat came about at the beginning of the 1970s as a carrier fighter meant to protect a group of ships at long range. Characteristic of it are the variable-sweep wing, which adjusted itself to speed in flight, the pair of engines separated by a flat fuselage tunnel and a crew of a pilot and a weapons systems officer. The A version was the first production variant. The machine served in carrier aviation for more than three decades and is among the most easily recognized aircraft of its day.
Finish the cockpit before you close the fuselage; once it is glued you will no longer reach it. Try the movable wing dry in both extreme positions so you know which one to choose. Fill and sand the seams on the belly of the fuselage, as they are very much on show. A fictional finish calls for careful masking, so use good tape on the transitions.
The aircraft is unassembled and unpainted; choose the modeling paints you need according to the scheme you pick.
