1:72 ADM-20 Quail from Black Dog is an accessory representing the decoy that American strategic bombers carried.
Responsibility details are not available.
This accessory extends the equipment of a bomber model with a decoy that was carried in the bomb bay during the Cold War. It is exactly the kind of item that tells a story on a finished model: without it the bomb bay looks empty, with it everything falls into place. The exact contents of the package are not stated here.
The ADM-20 Quail was a small powered unmanned device released from a bomber that imitated the bomber's signature on radar screens. The aim was to split the defenders' attention between several tracks and so to raise the chance of the real aircraft getting further. The design was marked by folding surfaces, so that the device would fit into the cargo space. It stayed in the inventory into the 1970s, when more modern devices replaced it.
An unfolded shape with sharp edges forgives little, so clean up the parting seams carefully and even the surface out with primer before spraying. A small object is more easily held on a stick or on a wire pushed into an inconspicuous hole. You can manage the painting separately and fit the accessory only at the end, once it has dried. If you are building an open bomb bay, think the attachment through in advance so that the mounting does not stay visibly unfinished.
The carrier aircraft is not supplied with this accessory and is bought separately.
