AGM-45 Shrike missiles in 1:72 scale are, according to the name, two pieces of anti-radiation ordnance for arming an aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of external armament from AMMO of Mig Jimenez. The name gives a pair of missiles; there is no aircraft in the package and you choose one according to your own plan. Small ordnance in this scale tends to be rendered only roughly in kits, so separate castings are among the easiest ways to help a model noticeably.
The Shrike came about as an answer to the radars of anti-aircraft systems. Its seeker aimed straight at the transmitting antenna, so a crew could hit a site that would otherwise have stayed hidden. The weapon had substantial weaknesses, though: the seeker was tuned to a particular band before takeoff and once the radar was switched off the missile lost the target. It was exactly out of its use that a whole tactic of hunting air defenses was born, in which crews tried to force the radar operators to transmit. Subjects with this armament are among the most gripping chapters of the air war.
The fins and the stabilizers are thin, so separate them with a sharp knife and with several cuts rather than one. After washing, spray the surface with a primer. The missile used to be light with pronounced colored bands, which are easier to create with a decal or thin masking than with a hand-drawn line. Reach for cyanoacrylate glue for the joints; its thicker variant gives more time to line up the position.
The armament is sold without paints and without glue; obtain the aircraft kit separately.
