Injection-molded kit of the German Albatros D.I fighter in 1:72 scale from Roden.
Responsibility details are not available.
Kit of one of the first modern German fighters of the First World War in 1:72 scale. It is an injection-molded plastic model from Roden. The box holds plastic parts on sprues, a decal sheet and assembly instructions.
The Albatros D.I was a single-seat biplane fighter of 1916 with an inline Mercedes engine and a pair of synchronized machine guns. Its semi-monocoque plywood fuselage was aerodynamically advanced for its day, and its heavy armament gave German pilots the upper hand in combat over the Western Front. The Albatros D.I opened a successful family of Albatros aircraft that continued with the D.II and D.III versions. The D.I differs from the later D.II mainly in the arrangement of the upper wing, which sits higher above the fuselage.
Glue the fine interplane struts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), and paint the cockpit and the inline engine before you close up the fuselage. Do not forget the bracing wires, which give a biplane a realistic look. Use a wood-grain technique on the wooden fuselage, spray the fabric surfaces with an airbrush and apply the decals over a gloss base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
