The set holds the AN/AAQ-28(V) Litening targeting and guidance pod in 1:72 scale and serves for completing the external stores of models of contemporary jet combat aircraft. Photo-etched parts and decals are usually included.
The AN/AAQ-28(V) Litening is a modern targeting pod with electro-optical and infrared sensors and a laser rangefinder and designator for guiding munitions precisely onto a target. It is carried by a range of Western combat aircraft from the 1990s to the present day. The faithfully cast body of the pod with the spherical sensor head at the front adds a great deal to the stores of a model.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water because of the mold release agent. Cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection, and bond the parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Finish the optical windows of the sensors with a gloss clear paint or with the enclosed decals. The body of the pod is usually sprayed gray to match the carrier aircraft.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted; these are resin and photo-etched parts for completing a plastic model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
