Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Czechoslovak postwar fighter Avia S-199, nicknamed Mezek, the mule, in 1:72 scale from Eduard. This version captures the machine with the original framed Avia canopy, divided into triangular panels. Depending on the edition, the package contains plastic parts, a clear canopy and decals for several marking options; depending on the level of the edition, photo-etched parts and masking film may be included as well.
The Avia S-199 came about in postwar Czechoslovakia as an improvised answer to the shortage of the original engines for Messerschmitt Bf 109G airframes. A Junkers Jumo 211 bomber engine with a massive propeller was fitted into the airframe, which gave the aircraft an idiosyncratic flying character and earned it the nickname Mezek. The S-199 went down in history not only in the service of the Czechoslovak Air Force but above all as the very first fighter of the newly formed Israeli Air Force in 1948.
Use liquid cement for plastic, and glue any photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Finish and paint the cockpit before closing up the fuselage. Lay down a primer before painting and apply the colors with an airbrush; the masks supplied, where the edition includes them, make clean canopy glazing easier. Give attention to the massive propeller and to the correct shape of the canopy, which sets this version apart from the variant with the rounded Erla canopy.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
