A small resin add-on set in 1:72 scale that belongs with a model of the American twin-engine North American B-25 Mitchell medium bomber in the C and D versions. It is not an aircraft kit but a detail with which a finished model is completed. Sets of this type are small in extent and large in effect: the dinghy is conspicuous in both its color and its shape, and in an open stowage or on a surface beside the model it catches the eye at once. The manufacturer is CMK, a Czech brand of resin accessories. The exact make-up of the package is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
An inflatable dinghy was mandatory equipment on long-range bombers in case of a forced landing on water. On the Mitchell it was stowed in a compartment in the upper part of the fuselage, from where it was released in an emergency. The B-25C and B-25D versions are early production forms of the type that differed mainly in the place of manufacture, and they were the most numerously built early variants of this machine.
First wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water. Cut the casting block off with a saw and never break small parts off. Sand wet and with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue; plastic cement will not join resin. Apply a primer before painting. Dinghies are usually in a vivid high-visibility shade that covers better over a light base, and a fine wash in the folds and light dry-brushing of the edges will do them a great deal of good. If you want to show the dinghy in its stowage, first study what the open compartment looks like on your model and make any opening in stages, testing dry as you go.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
