About product

Engine exhaust nozzles for the Jaguar in 1:72 scale (Reskit)

This item is an accessory, not an aircraft kit. It holds resin exhaust nozzles for the jet engines of a model of the Jaguar ground-attack aircraft in the small 1:72 scale. The nozzles are among the places where a plastic kit saves the most: they tend to be shallow, with a thick edge and no internal structure. A resin casting manages a thin wall and fine internal detail that cannot be made in a mold for injection-molded plastic.

What the set is for

On a twin-engine aircraft the rear of the airframe is one of the first places the viewer looks. The difference between a shallow plastic hole and a deep nozzle with suggested petals and an inner wall is visible even in 1:72 scale, and it is visible on a finished, painted model too. The set also deals with the shape of the trailing edge, which on an injection-molded part is hard to thin down by hand without the risk of simply breaking through the wall.

Usage and painting tips

Wash the resin parts first in warm water with a little detergent to get rid of the mold release agent, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter, never break them, and protect your breathing while sanding, because resin dust should not be inhaled. Cut off the original plastic nozzles from the kit, clean up the opening and then try the set dry. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Painting: primer first, then metallic shades, the inside of the nozzle rather dark with a sooty tinge and the outside with heat staining in a fine transition to brown and blue-violet. Make the transitions with thinned paint in small steps so that they stay smooth.

Who the set is for

  • modelers building the Jaguar in 1:72 scale who want to raise the detail of the rear end
  • builders who are bothered by shallow, thick-walled nozzles from the kit
  • anyone interested in working with resin, that is slightly advanced modelers
  • those who display a model on a shelf from behind, where the nozzle is in direct view

This is a resin accessory set, not an aircraft model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.

FAQ

It is not. This is an accessory set of nozzles that a modeler buys in addition to a plastic kit of the Jaguar in 1:72 scale.

Aftermarket sets are usually prepared for one particular kit, which the product name does not state. Before buying we recommend comparing the shape and the diameter of the nozzles with the model you are building, and counting on a little sanding.

With cyanoacrylate glue. Ordinary plastic cement does not dissolve resin, so it will not hold.

Yes. Mold release agent is left on the castings and paint will not hold on it. Warm water with a little detergent and a soft brush are enough, then let the parts dry out completely.
