Replacement exhaust nozzles for models of the Harrier in the AV-8A, GR.1, GR.3 and FRS.1 versions in 1:72 scale. They replace the parts from the kit at the most conspicuous place on the fuselage.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Harrier was the first combat aircraft to enter series service with vertical and short takeoff. Its thrust is led out through four rotating nozzles on the sides of the fuselage; the way they are turned decides whether the aircraft climbs vertically or flies forward. The position of the nozzles therefore determines on a model which phase of flight or taxiing the machine is captured in. The set covers the AV-8A, GR.1, GR.3 and FRS.1 versions, that is, the first-generation machines of the type.
Replacement exhaust nozzles for a Harrier model in 1:72 scale. The parts take the place of the nozzles from the kit. The exact make-up of the set is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are not polystyrene, so ordinary cement for plastic models has no effect on them; glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Cut off the excess material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand what is left. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting and let them dry. Match the angle of all four nozzles to a single template or angle, so that they correspond to one another; a differing angle is conspicuous on a finished model. The nozzles are under thermal load, so matte shades and gentle shading read more faithfully than bright metal.
The set suits modelers who want to improve the rendition of the nozzles on a Harrier, because they are visible from the side at first glance. No work on the structure of the model is needed. The set contains only the parts listed; the kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
