Replacement main wheels for a model of the Beaufighter Mk.I/VI in 1:72 scale, in the version with the early hub type and a smooth tire.
Responsibility details are not available.
Wheels are among the parts that give away a carefully built model: they are down low, everyone looks at them, and yet they tend to be simplified in a base kit. This set in 1:72 scale offers main wheels for the Beaufighter Mk.I/VI in a particular version, that is with the early hub type and a smooth tire with no tread pattern.
The Bristol Beaufighter was a British twin-engine combat aircraft of the Second World War with a crew of two. It served as a night fighter and as a strike machine against ground and naval targets, and during production it went through a series of changes, among them differences in the design of the wheels. That is exactly why it pays to watch which wheels were carried by the particular machine you are building.
The parts are not polystyrene, cement for plastic models has no effect on them, and so they are bonded with super glue. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder so that the shape of the tire is not disturbed. Wash and degrease the wheels before painting. Paint the hub and the tire separately, because a circular mask or careful touching in with a brush is safer here than a steady hand. If flattening under load is suggested on the tire, it belongs on the lower side, that is toward the ground, and the position of the lettering on the sidewall is aligned with it.
For builders who want to bring the wheels on a Beaufighter model into line with the particular machine they are representing. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
