A generic sheet of markings for the Belgian F-16 in 1:72 scale. It contains unit badges and the accompanying lettering, from which you can put together the machine of a particular squadron from a photograph.
Responsibility details are not available.
When the successor to the Starfighter was being decided in the mid-1970s, Belgium, together with the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway, reached for the American F-16 lightweight fighter. A substantial part of the airframes for the Belgian Air Force was built at home, in the assembly halls near Charleroi, and the type stayed in the front line for very nearly half a century.
The home of these machines was two bases, Florennes and Kleine Brogel, and several independent squadrons operated from them. Each keeps a badge and a history of its own, so the Belgian Fighting Falcons differ in details on the fin, on the radome and on the external fuel tanks. After the upgrade to the AM and BM versions they operated over the Balkans and over Libya and took turns in air policing over the Baltic.
The generic sheet of markings is built on exactly this variety. Instead of one particular machine it brings unit badges and the accompanying lettering, from which you put together a combination according to the photograph you want to capture. It will be appreciated by anyone building a Belgian aircraft from a certain period for which the box has no reference material.
It is good to polish the base with gloss varnish. Otherwise air gets trapped under the carrier film and the join stays visible even after a matte overspray.
