A set of waterslide decals in 1:72 scale from the Czech publisher DK Decals. It is not a kit but supplementary markings with which you finish a plastic model of the Bell Airacobra fighter in the colors of the British and Australian air forces. According to verified data the set offers markings for twelve different machines.

The real subject

The Bell P-39 Airacobra was an American single-seat fighter with an unusual layout, the engine behind the pilot and a nose landing gear. The Royal Air Force (RAF) operated the aircraft briefly as the Airacobra Mk.I at the turn of 1941 and 1942; later, machines of this family also served with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in the Pacific.

Use

• Cut out the decal, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and slide it onto the surface.
• Apply it over a smooth gloss varnish, which limits the dried-edge effect known as silvering.
• Decal softening solutions help adhesion and let the film settle into the detail.
• Fix the finished markings with a coat of matte or satin varnish.
