This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard brings a pilot's seat for a model of the Bell P-39Q Airacobra aircraft in 1:72 scale. The PRINT designation means that the part arises by printing, thanks to which it has thin walls, fine edges and raised details of a kind that cannot be produced in injected plastic in this scale. The seat is clearly visible in the glazed cockpit of the Airacobra, so replacing it belongs among the improvements with the best ratio of effort to result.
The Bell P-39 Airacobra was an American single-seat fighter with an Allison engine placed behind the cockpit. The propeller was driven by a long shaft led under the floor of the pilot's space, which made it possible to use a nose landing gear and freed up the nose of the fuselage. The cockpit was entered through side doors similar to those of a car, so on a model the pilot's space is visible from a wider angle than with an ordinary sliding canopy. The P-39Q version belonged among the most numerous series of the type.
The printed part is delicate: cut it off the support structure with a sharp scalpel and level the surface with fine sandpaper. Apply a primer before painting, otherwise the paint holds worse on the smooth surface. Paint the seat in stages: a base, a dry brush on the edges and a dark wash into the recesses. If you are adding belts, fix them before gluing the seat into the cockpit, as access is limited once it has been assembled. Close the cockpit only after you have checked the view through the glazing.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit of the aircraft. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
