The Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 is among the most widespread versions of this German fighter. Its recognition feature is the bulged fairings over the machine gun breeches in front of the cockpit, which earned the version a nickname among crews referring to the bulges on the cowling. Power came from the inverted V12 Daimler-Benz DB 605.
The set brings colored 3D-printed interior elements that have no adhesive layer of their own. A part is cut out, dipped for about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water and slid off the paper into place, where it holds best on a gloss clear coat. Do not use a decal softener or setter, as they would attack the printed resin. It is in 1:72 scale that the gain is greatest: the instrument panel, the side panels and the belts are so small here that they can hardly be painted convincingly with a brush, whereas finished color printing with relief is a matter of a few minutes. The set is prepared for the Tamiya kit in 1:72 scale.
Paint the cockpit in the base shade, let it dry thoroughly, degrease it and cover it with a gloss clear coat such as Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22. Dip the cut-out element, slide it off the backing into place and align it with a damp brush, then press it down with a soft stick or a cotton swab from the center toward the edges and blot away the excess water. In this scale it is better to work in good light and with a magnifier; once an element has dried it is hard to move.
The set suits modelers who build in the small scale and do not want to give up on the definition of the cockpit. The package contains interior elements only, unless stated otherwise; the model, paints and glue are not included.
