The Messerschmitt Bf 110 was a German twin-engine heavy fighter of the Second World War. The G series versions had liquid-cooled inverted V12 DB 605 engines and were used both by day and in the night fighter role. The cockpit is long, glazed along its whole length and holds several crew members, so once the model is built you can see into it from the nose right back to the rear gun position. On this type the interior therefore decides the look of the model more than on single-seat aircraft.
The set brings a colored three-dimensional interior shaped for the Bf 110G-2 and Bf 110G-4 kits in 1:72 scale from Eduard. The elements of the instrument panels, the side panels, the seats and other parts of the cockpit are formed in relief, pre-colored and printed on decal backing paper.
The elements have no adhesive layer of their own. Cut the part from the sheet, leave it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the paper into place with tweezers. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemistry would attack the printed resin. Spray the cockpit surfaces with a base color beforehand, coat them with gloss varnish and let it cure, because it is on a glossy surface that an element without adhesive of its own holds; the base must be smooth, clean and degreased. In a broken-up place a drop of super glue helps. Work from the large panels to the small elements while the fuselage halves are still apart.
The set suits a modeler who is building one of the G series versions and wants the glazed cockpit faithfully equipped without painting the individual dials. Even a less experienced builder will manage it; tweezers and a steady hand are enough.
