A plastic kit of the Boeing 737-800 airliner in 1:72 scale from the Big Planes Kits brand, with reference to the colors of the Dutch carrier KLM. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. An airliner in this scale is a genuinely large model, so count on that when planning room in the cabinet and when choosing a workbench.
The Boeing 737-800 is the most widespread member of the 737 Next Generation. Compared with the older 737s it received a new wing of greater area and fuel capacity, modern turbofan engines and a glass cockpit; with many operators you will recognize it by the wingtip devices, although it was also delivered without them. A capacity of roughly one hundred and sixty to one hundred and ninety passengers and a range covering the whole of Europe made it the most common machine on short and medium routes the world over. The Dutch carrier KLM is one of its long-term operators, and the type forms the backbone of its European network.
The fuselage of an airliner has long lengthwise joints that have to be filled and sanded; with a light-colored finish there is no hiding them otherwise. Check the result by spraying on a filler primer. Differently colored upper and lower halves of the fuselage call for precise masking along the whole length, for which flexible masking tape led along the panel lines works well. Apply the decals of a major carrier onto gloss varnish, in sections and with softener. Leave the landing gear and the engine nacelles until the end, and when varnishing at the end take care not to dull the gloss of the fuselage if you want to keep it.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
