This is not an aircraft model but a detail accessory for one. The set holds two resin parts, the exhaust pipes for models of the British Bristol Beaufighter in 1:72 scale. They replace the parts from the box, which tend to be cast flat and with a closed opening; a resin casting has a finer surface and hollowed-out ends, so the exhaust looks like a pipe even from close up rather than a solid piece of plastic. The parts are supplied unpainted.
The Bristol Beaufighter (Type 156) was a British twin-engine multirole aircraft built from 1940 to 1946. Structurally it followed on from the Beaufort torpedo bomber and served as a heavy fighter and night fighter, later also as a strike and antishipping aircraft. Most versions were powered by Bristol Hercules radial engines, while some machines received Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engines. The arrangement and the shape of the exhausts are among the details by which the individual engine installations are told apart on a model, and at the same time this is an area that is clearly visible on a finished model.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting so that the remains of the mold release agent are removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter and level the surface with sanding paper; wear respiratory protection while sanding resin. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), as plastic cement does not dissolve resin and therefore will not hold. Fit the parts dry before you close up the engine nacelles. Once the primer is sprayed, the exhausts are painted in a dark metallic or brownish black shade over which rust and soot pigments are applied; darken the openings of the pipes so that they look deeper.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
