1:72 British ARV Sherman is a resin model of the British recovery vehicle built on the Sherman chassis. The maker is the Czech brand Black Dog and the workmanship matches the demands of experienced modelers.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin kit for a small scale from the Czech maker Black Dog. Resin castings hold sharp edges and fine surface texture better than injected plastic, which shows up very noticeably in 1:72. Working with this material differs from an ordinary plastic kit, though, and we therefore recommend the set to modelers who already have something behind them.
The British converted American Shermans into recovery vehicles, because combat vehicles on the battlefield needed quick help right out in the field. The turret with the gun disappeared and its place was taken by a working superstructure with a winch, a bracing spade and lifting gear. Machines modified in this way served with armored units in Western Europe and their silhouette differs from a combat tank at first glance.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release residue disappears from the surface; without that neither the primer nor the paint will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and never snap them off. Sanding should always be done with the airways protected, ideally wet. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, so try the parts dry first, as a correction once it has set is already difficult. Before the coat of paint, reach for a primer that holds on smooth resin.
The set comes as a collection of resin castings; a finished vehicle appears only once the parts have been cleaned up, glued together and painted.
