The set contains two turned metal barrels of the American Browning M1919 machine gun in .30 caliber in 1:72 scale. It is not a vehicle model or a kit but a replacement part that takes the place of the plastic barrel from the base kit. The metal barrel has a genuinely drilled bore, so the muzzle stays open even after painting, and in ordinary handling it does not bend or snap as easily as a thin plastic molding.
The Browning M1919 was an American air-cooled machine gun of 7.62 mm caliber derived from the water-cooled M1917. It served as a coaxial and bow weapon on tanks and armored personnel carriers, on infantry mounts and as armament on light vehicles. A typical feature is the perforated cooling jacket of the barrel, which is hard to mold in a small scale and tends to be markedly simplified on plastic parts.
Cut the plastic barrel off as close to the mount as possible and carefully drill the hole left behind with a micro drill to the diameter of the pin on the metal part. Bond the metal with super glue or a two-part epoxy, as ordinary plastic cement will not hold on it. Degrease the part before painting and use a primer meant for metal; the surface can also be chemically blackened, which gives the weapon a naturally dark metallic tone without a layer of paint. Fit the finished barrel at the very end of the build so that it does not bend during the remaining work.
This is an accessory for modelers, not a standalone kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
