A plastic kit of the eight-wheeled BTR-70 armored personnel carrier in the late production form, 1:72 scale, from ACE. The model captures the typical features of the later series of this wheeled carrier and suits a display case as well as a smaller diorama.
The BTR-70 was a Soviet eight-wheeled armored personnel carrier with all-wheel drive. It served to carry infantry and to give it fire support, it was armed with a turret with machine guns and it had characteristic side entry openings between the axles. The late production series differed from the early machines in details.
Assemble the chassis and the wheels with an eye to the correct geometry, and glue the parts with thin modeling cement for plastic. In a small scale it is mainly the shapes and transitions that show, so take care over clean joints. After spraying the primer, lay the base color on with an airbrush and add a wash and pigments to suggest dust.
